It is the night before Caleb’s first day of school. Since he is going into Kindergarden, the first day of school was staggered. Today Caleb and Dada went to visit the school and check out the drop off and pick up procedures. Caleb took his school supplies and change of clothes with to put in the classroom and in his cubby.
Swimming part 2
What a great week this has been. Caleb started the week off feeling anxious. He had nose bleeds, wet the bed and even threw up knowing there was change on the horizon. Monday Caleb started swimming lessons and he was also aware that camp would soon be over and school would be starting. This is a lot of change for Caleb…. But this is about the swimming lessons.
Caleb started off Monday with Miss Nancy resistant, crying, begging and pleading. He was scared and did NOT want to swim. Miss Nancy is a miracle worker who had her last lesson with Caleb today and he is now officially a swimmer. He can swim, dive for toys, float on his back (still not his favorite thing) and he can jump in!!! I am so impressed by how well he did with Miss Nancy and how well she did with Caleb.
Purple Jelly
Conversation over dinner….
M: Caleb, are you excited about starting at school?
C: Yes, I am looking forward to sitting in my desk, learning new things, and watching a baby shoot purple jelly out of his eyes and killing bad guys.
hmmmmmmm – what school does he think he is going to?
Swimming
The part of being a parent that I dislike the most – is making mistakes. Caleb and I went swimming today and my 5 year old son is still not able to swim. I really wished I has listened to everyone and made sure he learnt to swim when he was younger. When he was younger he was fearless when it came to the water and thought he could swim even though he could not. As he has gotten older he has become more cautious and afraid.
When we were in the pool earlier today, Caleb refused to even try to swim and was adement that he was not going to learn to swim with the swim instructor in two weeks. Caleb was in the pool with a little girl the same age as him who swam like a little fish and a boy a few years older. They were both encouraging him to swim and he was having none of it.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens with the swimming instructor and feel sad and guilty for not doing this years ago.
Labour Day 2010
We had a wonderful Labor Day. We went to the Playtown Cafe and met our friends, Aly and Christina. Caleb had a wonderful time playing and making new friends. He played so hard, that he fell asleep in the car on the way home.

Caleb’s Artwork From School
One of things I was really looking forward to when Caleb started school, came as no disappointment to me. When Caleb came home with envelope of his artwork, I was so excited. Please enjoy some of his creations below. A wonderful hat that he decorated and some pictures be designed.
